Our Leader

Marcelo Garcia also known as ‘Marcelinho’, is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt under Master Fabio Gurgel, who competes for the Alliance BJJ academy. Having won 5 world jiu jitsu tournaments and 4 times the ADCC (two of the most important tournaments in jiu jitsu), Garcia is widely considered by many as the best grappler in the world, while his general demeanor made him one of the most beloved athletes by the BJJ community. 

Marcelo Garcia is an internationally renowned teacher and competitor of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Submission Grappling. He has won the World Championships at all belt levels (blue, purple, brown, and 5 times as a black belt), and the Submission Grappling World Championships (ADCC) four times (2003, 2005, 2007, 2011).  He was voted the most technical competitor in 2003 and 2007 at ADCC, and a participant in the best match of 2005.
